Hiring a chef to cater dinner parties is latest trend

Some view that is no longer enough to hire luxury kitchen designers in Cheshire or London, with homeowners who really want to impress dinner party guests now also forking out for a trained chef to cook the meal.

The latest dining trend to sweep the country is an expensive one, with some food enthusiasts across the UK spending hundreds, if not thousands of pounds, on prominent chefs to cater for their parties. This is often in a bid to outdo their friends and ensure that their dinner parties are the best.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Claire Lightbody, who is a big fan of the trend, said:

“Some might say that paying up to £750 for a dinner party for 12 people is extravagant… [but]… to me it’s a small price to pay for buying quality time with close friends.”

Not only does Lightbody hire chefs to cook her dinner party meals, but she also employs a waitress to serve her guests fine foods prepared in her kitchen, such as goats cheese ravioli and lemon granite palate cleansers.

It is thought that this gourmet dining trend has been inspired by shows like The Great British Bake off and Masterchef, which raise expectations of what can be achieved in the kitchen.

It may also be because preparing the average dinner party takes up a lot of time. In fact, a recent survey found that the average dinner party host spent six and a half hours slaving over dishes. This makes paying for a private chef all the more attractive, providing one can afford it.
