Smart technology to take over the kitchen

Luxury kitchen design in Cheshire is set to change a lot in the coming years because kitchens are the latest thing to be given the smart technology treatment. With a number of new apps and gadgets going on the market, this could make the kitchen more intelligent than ever.

One of the most popular uses of smart technology for the kitchen is in the humble kitchen tap. A number of well-known companies have recently released ‘smart taps’, which are increasingly being used in public spaces because they are much more hygienic than traditional taps. Smart taps not only monitor water usage, to save waste, but they also feature sensors which turn on the water without the need to be touched. This helps to stop the spread of germs and keep taps shiny and clean. Many of these smart taps also feature a temperature control system.

Another kitchen innovation, which is still in the early stages, in the ‘touchscreen worktop’. Whirlpool recently showcased its Kitchen of the Future prototype, and one of the things which got people most excited was their interactive cooktop. This digital device enables the user to read a digital copy of their recipe on the cooktop, right next to the pot they are cooking it in. The company estimates that this could be a reality in kitchens around the world by as early as 2019.

Another popular kitchen trend is that for the addition of smart apps which enable the user to control all of the technology in their kitchen from their Smartphone. This means they can turn on lights, boil the kettle and switch off the cooker, all from a distance.
